West Islip, NY – The Communications Workers of America Local 1108 and the United Auto Workers Region 9A have endorsed Christine Pellegrino for the New York State Assembly in the Ninth Assembly District. A special election for the seat will be held on Tuesday May 23rd.
These are significant endorsements in the closely watched race, following last week’s major endorsement of Pellegrino by the New York State United Teachers.
“Strong unions like CWA and UAW have been fighting for the rights of workers here on Long Island and across the state, and I am honored to have their support,” said Pellegrino. “As a proud union member myself, I look forward to working alongside their members to ensure the working families of Long Island receive the fair deal they deserve.”
Don Dunn, President of CWA Local 1108, praised Pellegrino’s work as a teacher improving the lives of children, as well as her commitment to protect jobs, improve service standards for customers, and push for a FIOS build out throughout New York State.
“We have full confidence that Christine Pellegrino will be a strong advocate for working families on Long Island,” said UAW Local 259 President Brian Schneck. “UAW is proud to endorse her for the New York State Assembly.”
